The Florida State University (FSU) Early Head Start Program is a federally funded home visiting program in Gadsden County, Florida that delivers services to at-risk families who are pregnant or have children under 3 years old. Home Visitors meet with families each week to provide early childhood education, health, and family support services so that children can develop to their full potential and parents can grow confident in their role as their child’s first teacher.
FSU Early Head Start offers:
Weekly 90-minute home visits to show you activities you can do with your child, keep track of your child’s development, and help them get ready for preschool.
Assistance with medical needs, like getting your child a doctor and understanding when it’s time to get well-baby visits and shots.
Help with setting goals and linking families with other community agencies to meet their needs.
Information on topics you may be interested in, including pregnancy health, safety, parenting, and understanding you child’s behavior.
Play Groups (called Group Socials) that are held at least twice a month with lots of activities, snacks, and fun!
In order to be eligible for the Early Head Start Program, a family must:
Live in Gadsden County, Florida
Have a child under 3 years old or be expecting a child
Provide documentation to verify their income (Examples of income verification documents: pay stub, income tax return, printout from child support, financial aid, SSI, Social Security, or TANF. Food stamps and Medicaid do not count as income.)
